Program Description

The Paramedic is an allied health professional whose primary focus is to provide advanced emergency medical care for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This individual possesses the complex knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation. Paramedics function as part of a comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight. Paramedics perform interventions with the basic and advanced equipment typically found on an ambulance. The Paramedic is a link from the scene into the health care system.  [From the: National EMS Scope of Practice Model]

The PT电子CTM Paramedic Program provides students with the skills, knowledge, and clinical experience required to provide safe and effective prehospital care.  The program integrates classroom, laboratory, and applied clinical practice following the National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards.  The program works with local ambulance services and hospitals to provide medical and trauma training in prehospital settings, emergency departments, and specialty rotations.  Successful graduates are eligible to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians certification examination and apply for licensure through the State of Arkansas.

The Arkansas Department of Health EMS Division approves the Emergency Medical Technology courses offered by PT电子CTM.  The PT电子CTM Paramedic Program is a nationally accredited program.
